Home of high quality, handmade wooden clothespins

Welcome to All American Clothespins

All American Clothespins is owned and operated by me and my son. My son had asked me to teach him wood working. We have a small wood shop on the rear of my property. As a 15-year-old, he has come to the age that he would like to start making some income to make his own purchases and maybe start saving money for a car. He had inquired about possibly producing a product out of our shop to sell. Through research, we came across the idea making hand-crafted wooden clothespins. We had the necessary tools to make them, so why not?

We set out with the goal of manufacturing a quality clothespin, that for the most part, had died when the last American manufacturer of clothespins went out of business due to the influx of Chinese made imports of questionable wood quality and very cheap springs. What's the point of hanging your clothes if the wind causes the clothespin halves to separate and your clean laundry ends up on the ground? Our clothespins are stronger, larger, and if taken care of, should be the last clothespins you purchase. We also chose to make our clothespins smooth instead of adding grooves to the rear . We did this for two reasons. First, we felt that cutting grooves into the rear of the pin could be problematic in the long term because it would weaken that area of the clothespin that is put under stress each time it is opened. Second, we felt that if a person is still active enough to hang laundry, they didn't need grip grooves to open them. Also through feedback, we found that crafters preferred them smooth. They are easy to paint and more pleasing to the eye in finished craft projects.

We are so confident in our product that they are guaranteed for life for normal wear and tear or a defect in the lumber that we missed. That being said, they are not dog or lawn mower proof :). Give us a try. You won't be disappointed.

About our clothespins

Our clothespins measure 3 1/2 inches long. They are handcrafted from ash. Ash is a very hard wood which makes it perfect for clothespins. We purchase our wood from a small family lumber mill in the thumb area of Michigan. We take a rough sawn piece of ash and mill it down to the size and thickness we need to start our process. Our clothespins are handcrafted to a very high quality. What really sets our clothespins apart from cheap imported ones made from "mystery" wood is the spring. We use a heavy duty stainless steel spring manufactured here in the United States. No more using four or five cheap clothespins to hang a wet towel to line dry. Our clothespins are tumble sanded and are finished with tung oil, which will not leech out and stain your laundry. If not left outside all the time, our clothespins could last a lifetime. Our pins are also perfect for a variety of craft projects and for countless household uses. Our clothespins are 100% made in USA

Cheap imports with weak springs just don't compare

Here are a couple of comparison pics to show the difference between our clothespins and the garden variety ones available today.
